About Us

Tisdale Food Ingredients is family-owned and operated. The story began in 1981 when Bill Tisdale decided to start a food brokerage. With 13 years in the food industry, Bill had the credentials: his experience included a management program at a grocery store chain, plus many years as a sales manager for a national food manufacturing company.

Bill’s expertise plus the desire to build a successful brokerage proved to be a winning recipe. Soon after starting TFI in his home office, the fledgling brokerage grew large enough to operate out of commercial office space in Plano, Texas.

Bill’s son Bo Tisdale joined the business in 2001 and eventually purchased the business in 2015. He is now the Owner/President. Bill is still active as a consultant. The brokerage presently headquarters out of McKinney, Texas, where the staff can easily access the DFW Metroplex, the rest of Texas, and the other states in its territory. Tisdale Food Ingredients sources ingredients from all over the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Manufacturer’s Representative?

As defined by the Association of Sales & Marketing Companies:

“An agent representing a manufacturer in a specific geographical area, usually on a contractual basis, usually handles non-competing but related lines of goods.”

Why not call the Ingredient Manufacturers directly?

Just as companies outsource areas such as Accounting, HR, Legal, and IT, outsourced Sales enables the companies we work with to do what they do best; manufacture quality ingredients, while leaving the Sales and Marketing to us.

Doesn’t this add another layer to costs?

Quite the opposite, we act as the company’s sales force in the field. This enables the companies we represent to fix their sales costs. With todays ever increasing hiring, travel, and healthcare costs, the benefits of using an Industrial Food Ingredient Resource Company is more substantial today than ever before.

I’m a buyer of many ingredients. How can you help me?

All of us today have too much to do with too little time. Tisdale can offer you solutions to multiple ingredient issues in one contact, saving you many calls, voice mails, frustrations, time, and money.

I’m looking for an ingredient not on your list.

Just ask. In many cases, we can source the ingredient(s) for you.

What is the process to set up an order?

Simply, you place the order, we do the rest. On first orders there is a minimum amount of paperwork we need such as shipping and billing Information and credit application. We follow the order from beginning to end so you have it on time when you want it!

Do you warehouse locally?

Yes, we warehouse some Ingredients locally. We are always looking for Items that fit the profile for warehousing.

I am interested in becoming a supplier. What is the process?
